YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN
Use this idiom to indicate you completely agree with what has been said.
It expresses emphatic agreement!
An alternative expression: “That is so true”
Let’s look at three illustrated sentence examples, and pay special attention to the 3rd example for an added understanding . . .

Scene: Two sisters talking about their aging father.
1st sister: Dad is really showing signs of old age.
2nd sister: You can say that again. He is getting very forgetful.
In other words: “I completely agree with you. He has a real problem remembering things.”

In the picture we see a woman shivering with the cold.
Husband: It’s so cold today!
Wife: You can say that again. I can’t stop shivering.

Scene: Two men walking away from a talkative neighbour.
1st man: Boy, can she talk!
2nd man: You can say that again. I was beginning to wonder if we would ever get away!

Note from this example, if you say “you can say that again” with intensity, you can show you feel it even more strongly that the speaker.
