Note 2
Read the instructions carefully and pay close attention to the number of words you are asked to write for the answer.
e.g. Write no more than three words for each answer.
If you write more than three words, even if the information is correct, your answer will be marked as incorrect.
Slide 5:
Note 3
Learn to distinguish between important information and unimportant information.
Pay special attention to statistics, times, dates.
e.g.
Person 1: Shall we meet at 7pm?
Person 2: Ah, 7pm is too early for me. What about 9pm?
Person 1: Yes, OK, 9pm is fine.
Remember, the first thing you hear (7pm), might not be the correct answer (9pm).
Slide 6:
Note 4
If you miss an answer, GUESS!
You might get distracted, lose concentration for just a moment, and miss an answer. Immediately regain control, don’t worry, concentrate on the current dialogue and come back later to the missing answer.
If you don’t know, make a guess! Don’t leave any answer blank. An incorrect or incomplete answer is marked Zero, so you won’t lose marks. There is a chance your guess may be correct in which case you will gain the mark.
Slide 7:
Note 5
Double-check your answers.
Make notes as you listen. At the end, you will be given time to transfer your answers to the answer sheet.
Write slowly and clearly, making sure you do not mix-up the answers by writing an answer from your notes on the wrong line on the answer sheet.
Once you have transferred your answers to the answer sheet, double-check for accuracy, spelling and grammar.
