We will consider 5 common English collocations in use:

break someone’s heart
to cause someone to feel deep sadness
Slide 6:

Sentence: It broke his heart when his dear wife of 41 years passed away.
Slide 7:
In the picture we see a young woman holding her head, very upset.
Sentence: Her boyfriend broke her heart when he decided to end the relationship.

Sentence: On May 26, 2010, Microsoft dropped to the 2nd position when Apple took its place as the world’s most valuable technology company.
